Religion in Crisis – Why Things Break Down

There is no shortage of crises in humanity’s history. It seems to me that the primary catalyst for most of these crises is a decline in spiritual or religious attention.  Situations slip into chaos when our lives do not resonate with a higher, transcendental moral code that is based on that which is good. It is not exceptional for minds to lose their balance, when people do not strive to maintain a focus on the highest good. Religion is that which binds us to reality and to that which is sacred.

Religiosity is in sharp decline for many reasons: growing narcissism, fast-reducing attention spans, fascination with distractions, puppet church leaders, enemy-based politics, corruption in high places, capture by technology, a lack of interest in that which is true, commercial and entertainment propaganda that glorifies pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, anger and convenience (sloth), just to name a few.

religion is that which binds you to the sacred

Commercial interests and political power-mongers push self-interested narratives that discourage us from trusting our senses, thus herding us into following authority blindly. This strategy has been alarmingly successful as most people prefer to live a convenient lie rather than a liberating truth. This is debilitating and causes cognitive dissonance that ultimately enslaves us.

We structure our lives around that which we hold to be our highest principality.  We live through the subsidiary network of goals that are at the service of that which we hold to be highest. So, for example, if one thinks oneself to be compassionate, agreeable and discerning, but then lives one’s life as if they were none of those things, then that is who they are. Our day-to-day actions, emotions, thoughts and motivation, reveal the god before whom we kneel. It would therefore be wise to see what your guiding force is. Worshiping false gods is not a clever thing to do. False gods are jealous gods and are not easily gotten rid of.

Now, narcissism leads to depression and extreme narcissism will result in despair, or even worse pathological states of mind characterized by a dangerous lack of empathy. Technology’s incessant interference, through innumerable electronic gadgets, clutters and confuses our mind.

Church leaders appear to be out of their depth or are completely missing the plot. Unsustainable, maybe even malicious, social norms are destroying our culture (traditions, language, religion, families, and communities of men, women and children). When we process information we tend to assume that it is all true. This is not so. Most of the information that comes our way is tainted, not properly reflecting reality. The problem is not that information has a bias, which is inevitable, but that most people have surrendered away their discerning abilities.

Societal norms condition us to embrace behaviours that are self-harming and then encourage us to blame others for our predicament. A dispassionate look at how we ended up in any undesirable situation would reveal that the causative actions or omissions may not have been intentional, but they were certainly deliberate. We own all our fortunes and misfortunes. We need to take responsibility for all of it.

Our western societies are not underpinned by unity and are breaking down. The culture in every western country is the story of its people. Without our own sovereign story we are lost, disconnected and we will face perdition. Our foremost weakness is luciferian pride fuelled by our intellect. Our behaviour betrays the false gods we worship. We need to go back to our roots and rediscover, first hand, our Christian heritage through the words and life of Christ. This is a labour of separating the chaff from the wheat. This is what Christ did two millennia ago, and what He would do today.

Gold cross Religion crisis

Although this message is intended for Christians, one does not, and should not, negate other religions or spiritual paths. To each his own. Reciprocal respect is essential.

We are alive here and now for a reason and our life has meaning and purpose. Being a Christian on this earth, and at this time, is not an accident. The fact that Christ’s teachings have persevered over two thousand years to reach us here and now, is not a coincidence. All is breaking down around us, as things do when no longer coherent. With courage born of suffering, we should remain steadfast, don the Armour of God, and look fearlessly into the spiritual darkness that envelopes our western nations. The Spirit of Christ illuminates the path for Christians everywhere.

It is fit and proper for a nation to honour a religion that reflects its culture and with which it shares common traditions and heritage. A nation without religion is a nation without a moral compass, and therefore without purpose or meaning. It is the beginning of the end – this is why things break down.
